Every Initial Appointment involves a thorough assessment of your presenting condition. This usually starts with an in-depth conversation around the issue, including an opportunity for you to communicate the things you feel are important for the Physiotherapist to know as well as some directed questions from the Physiotherapist.
After this, a physical assessment will often take place to assist in forming a diagnosis of your condition. Therefore, wearing suitable clothing that is comfortable and allows access to the area of your issue can greatly assist.
From there Physiotherapy treatment often involves hands-on work (manual therapy); exercise prescription or monitored performance (strength & conditioning); and/or activity/movement modification. The most important part of this process though, is Education on Self-Management - and even from the very first appointment, we will work together to make you the expert on your own presenting condition!
The first part of every Initial Appointment involves assessment of your presenting condition (through conversation and often physical examination).
If it is deemed by the Physiotherapist that Physiotherapy as a service can be of assistance, this will be discussed and with your consent, the appointment will continue into a paid session.
If however, it is deemed by the Physiotherapist that your presenting condition cannot be helped by Physiotherapy at that time, this will be discussed, and you will not be charged for that appointment (this will be classed as a Free Initial Assessment*).
